Zonos Duty and Tax for Shopify installation

Installation

  1. Add the Zonos Duty and Tax app from the Shopify App Store.
  2. Click Create Zonos account. You will get access to the Zonos Dashboard once store setup is complete. (Note: If you’ve already set up an account and received your store credentials, you can skip to Step 7. Just input those credentials into Shopify, and hit Save.) Create account
  3. The next step is to set up your shipping methods. Inside the Zonos Dashboard, click Settings on the left menu. Settings
  4. Here is where you will set up preferred carriers, shipping zones, and service levels. Please refer to our Quick Setup Guide for shipping setup.
  5. Any changes to your shipping settings in the Zonos Dashboard will be reflected on any quotes where Zonos is included as a carrier in Shopify.
  6. Once your setup is complete in the Zonos Dashboard, view the Integrate page where you will find your Zonos store number and Zonos API key necessary to complete setup in Shopify. Integrate
  7. These credentials must be added to the Zonos Duty and Tax app in your Shopify admin.
  8. After adding the Zonos credentials, click Save.
  9. Once you save the credentials, Zonos will be added to any existing shipping zones with the shipping rates you set up in the Zonos Dashboard.
  10. Next, you will be asked to approve the pricing to complete your installation.
  11. Remove Zonos from any shipping zones in Shopify that you don’t want Zonos to quote (typically, your domestic shipping zones).
  12. Upon installation of the app, Zonos Hello will also be added to your website. Hello provides localized messaging and real-time duty & tax quotes to your customers throughout the shopping experience. You can enable and disable product quotes for Hello. These will show on the product page (by default) and the cart page (if you choose to enable it). Hello settings.

Shopify Plus bonus feature

If you are a Shopify Plus merchant, an additional feature can be optionally added to the Shopify Checkout. You get the ability to separate the shipping total from the duty and tax total, as shown in the screenshot below. The orders will still import as an all-inclusive total in shipping, but you can show the breakdown to your customers at checkout.

Bonus feature

How to add this bonus feature

  1. Upon installation of the Zonos Duty and Tax app, a snippet was added to your current theme. snippet
  2. Include this file in the checkout.liquid using: {% include 'zonos_shopifyplus_features' %}
  3. We recommend you add the include just before the closing </body> tag. include
  4. Make sure to save any changes. You will now see the duty and tax breakdown for Zonos DDP service levels in the Shopify Checkout.
  • If your Shopify base currency is not in USD, the above feature will work on your Shopify Checkout.
  • If you are using Shopify’s multiple currency support, we do not recommend adding this feature. This is because the totals in checkout will not match up on the front-end; however, the customer will still be charged the correct amount, regardless.
