Custom fields

Add fields to Checkout to collect miscellaneous custom data.

Sometimes you need to collect additional information from your customers. For example, you might want to collect a customer's tax ID or a special delivery instruction. Zonos Checkout supports adding custom fields to facilitate collecting this kind of information.

How custom fields work

When you have a custom field enabled, shoppers from the countries you've selected will see the field in the shipping address section of Checkout. If you've set the field to be required, shoppers will need to fill it out before they can complete their purchase. Up to three custom fields can be added to Checkout simultaneously.

Orders with custom fields will include the field name and value in their details. You can view this information in Dashboard or via the API. Where supported, custom fields will also be synced back to your ecommerce platform either as order notes or as custom fields, depending on the platform.

Examples of times you might want to use custom fields include:

  • Collecting a shopper's tax ID, such as a VAT number, when purchasing from a country that requires it
  • Collecting a PO number to use for invoicing
  • Allowing the shopper to enter custom notes to your team at the time of purchase
