Classify Interactive

Refine your classification with Classify Interactive.

BETA

In a standard response, Classify returns a single HS code. Classify interactive, on the other hand, modifies the response to allow you to refine your results by suggesting additional classification options and even enables you to add more category fields to refine the results.

Before using Classify interactive, make sure you understand the differences between universal and country-specific HS codes as it will impact the Classify interactive flow.

Country-specific (8+ digit) Classify interactive steps:

  1. If you don’t like Classify’s original response, Classify interactive will return all tariff codes available based on the original six-digit classification
  2. If you don’t like any of the tariff codes listed in step 1, Classify interactive will return the top five universal (6-digit) HS codes
  3. If you don’t like any of the five options, Classify interactive will prompt you to select a Zonos category and subcategory
  4. With your additional information, Classify interactive will re-classify your item

Here’s an example of Classify interactive’s tariff-level code options for Canada based on the universal code 6110.20.

Universal (6-digit) Classify interactive steps:

  1. Instead of Classify’s single HS code response, Classify interactive will return the top five potential HS codes
  2. If you don’t like any of the five options, Classify interactive will prompt you to select a Zonos category and subcategory
  3. With your additional information, Classify interactive will re-classify your item

For example, if an original Classify request input was a “jacket,” Classify assumes the jacket is a cotton hoodie based on the limited information in the input. However, the intended item was a wind-breaker jacket, which impacts the classification result. In this case, the user refined their classification to find the correct code for their wind-breaker, which was for “Men’s overcoats, capes, cloaks, wind-jackets, etc. of cotton”.
